The Blood of Dawnwalker Time System — Extending the 30-Day Timer — Wiki & Guide

How The Blood of Dawnwalker's 30-day timer works, and the Tsarina's Sanzhana quest chain that rewards you with an extra day — every task, reward and location listed.

Time is The Blood of Dawnwalker's real antagonist. You get 30 in-game days to tear Coen's family out of Brencis's hands, and the clock only moves when you do something that matters — quests, exploration, even some level-ups each burn segments off the calendar. Let the 30 days lapse and the story ends badly. The good news: the game lets you earn extra days, and this guide covers the most reliable method — the Tsarina's Sanzhana favor chain.

The counter in the corner is always running — this HUD shows 19 days left and the main objective.

How the timer actually works

A few ground rules make the system legible:

  • Time is explicit. Actions that cost time show an hourglass icon with a number — that's how many segments the action eats.
  • Each day-night cycle holds 16 segments. Across a 30-day run, that's 480 segments for everything: story, side quests, gear hunts and detours.
  • Open-world events drain time too. If you hear a ticking sound and see grayed-out segments appear on the timeline, you've wandered into an event that will charge you for finishing it.
  • Quest estimates are per step. A journal entry showing "1 segment" means one step costs one segment — a multi-step quest with dialogue choices can charge you several times.

Because the budget can't cover everything, spending days wisely — and adding days where possible — is the core strategy of the whole game.

Earning an extra day: the Tsarina's chain

The dependable way to push the deadline back is a favor chain run through the Tsarina and her Sanzhana retainers. The structure is simple: finish the prerequisite quest, complete four helper tasks for other Sanzhana, then report back to collect a bonus day.

Prerequisite: Good Home

Everything starts with Good Home. Until it's finished, the helper tasks below won't appear. Once it's done, four Sanzhana requests open up around the valley.

The four Sanzhana helper tasks

Task Where to find it Reward
Following the Sound North-east of the Gravel Gorge shrine A bundle of silk threads — a material used for the Arbiter armor
Sorrow of the Burrow East of the Mud Cup Tavern shrine A purple amulet
Pocket Dancer Svartrau city center At night, a two-story house in the city opens up with supplies to loot
Pearly and Precious Below the Little Bridge shrine Unlocks the Sanzhani merchant, who sells silk threads and skill books

One warning from the chain's early stages: when you reach the charcoal burner, do not pick the option to help him work — it burns 3 time segments. Buy him a drink instead; it resolves the moment without the cost.

Collect the reward

Finish all four tasks and return to the Tsarina — the extra day only lands after you report back in person. It's an easy step to skip in the flow of a busy day, and the reward is lost if you never circle back.

Helping other Sanzhana along the way also unlocks a one-time letter, an extra small perk for being generous with your favors.

Why an extra day matters

An extra day is 16 more segments — roughly a full main quest plus a side activity, or a legendary gear detour you'd otherwise skip. Given that the deadline itself is an ending trigger (letting the counter hit zero closes the story with the family executed), a bonus day is both insurance and freedom. Pair this chain with the prologue walkthrough to start the game on the right footing, and with the endings guide to see what the calendar is pushing you toward.
