Like Father, Like Son walkthrough: Pieter's sparring lesson, the basket loot by the house, the dialogue choices after the fight, and the Charge skill manual reward.
Like Father, Like Son is the prologue's sword lesson: a short sparring session with Coen's father Pieter that ends with the Charge skill manual — a technique book that pays out in every sword fight that follows. It is short, cheap, and one of the prologue's must-do quests.

How to start
After Withering Away wraps, Pieter asks Coen to follow him up the hill for training. Follow him to the training spot to begin the spar.
Free loot on the way
Before or after the fight, check the basket to the left of the house — it holds beef and mutton, a free stack of cooking supplies for the days ahead. Prologue loot is modest; take it anyway.
The spar
Beat Pieter in the practice bout. The fight is a tutorial for spacing and the game's directional combat — he hits hard for an early-game opponent but nothing here is punishing. Win the exchange to open the conversation.
The dialogue after the fight
Three picks, and each is worth a thought:
- "This plan is madness. We can't win." — the honest read of Pieter's idea.
- "Whatever you decide, I'm with you." — the supportive answer; it's the one that keeps the scene warm.
- "See you then." — closing on this line matters: it's the trigger that later opens the door to Live Bait, the fishing afternoon with your younger siblings.
The reward
The quest completes with 100 XP and the Charge skill manual, which teaches the Charge attack — the gap-closer you will lean on in every human-form fight from here to the endgame. If you are budgeting the prologue's time segments, this quest is cheap for what it returns; run it the same day as Withering Away and end the day with Sacred Covenant.
