Evil and Convenience walkthrough: clearing Ambrus's outpost camp, the torn flag and brass key evidence, buying the warden's life, and the necromancy interrogation that ends it.
Evil and Convenience — the full title is Ambrus's Dungeons: Evil and Convenience — is the Ambrus arc's darkest stop: an outpost that is part prison, part torture chamber, run by a warden who would rather buy his life than keep it. It's also the arc's best treasure hunt, if you read the clues the camp leaves lying around.

How to start
Investigate the outpost southwest of the Stoneward Post. Clear the camp's defenders, then put Focus mode on everything — this quest is unusually generous with clue objects.
The evidence trail
- On the box by the pit on the camp's right side: a torn flag. Take it.
- In the house on the left: an envelope and a brass key from the table. The key opens what the envelope describes.
- Follow the footprints across the ground to the locked door, and let yourself in with the brass key.
The warden's bargain
Inside waits the warden — the man who runs Ambrus's dungeons and knows exactly how this ends for him. When he offers everything for his life, take him up on it: "I'll allow you to buy your life." He pays in information — the location of the camp's hidden treasure. Mark it; you'll walk out through it on the way home.
The interrogation
The quest's signature scene is next:
- In the shed deep in the camp, pick up the torture implements.
- Enter the adjoining house and find the body of the man the tools were used on.
- Cast astral communication on the corpse and give it back its things — the flag and the implements.
- The dead man talks: what the outpost did, and what it was for.
Necromancy as detective work — the game keeps finding new uses for the spell, and this is the coldest one.
The last stop
On the way out, check the withered tree on the right outside the camp — the warden's treasure is stashed there. Loot it, and the quest completes for 250 XP, an Amulet of Endurance, a potion recipe, and 60 denarii. The dungeon ledger closes; Ambrus's network is another link shorter.
