Under Watchful Eyes is the payoff of the Stoneward Post arc: at night, with the guard rotation thin, Coen goes over the walls and takes Mert out of Brencis's prison by force. It is the most combat-dense of the post quests — boars, towers, a yard-to-yard clear — and a showcase for everything vampiric traversal can do.

How to start

Wait for nightfall, then start from the shrine on the common outside the post. The whole quest is tuned for darkness: your powers are at full strength, and half the garrison is asleep.

The way in

• Follow the road toward the distress-call marker on the compass.
• The detour on the way: a villager has a boar problem. Clear the beasts, choose "You're welcome" when thanked, and pocket the gold and XP. Good deeds near this post pay literal interest.
• Continue northeast to the tower at the wall's corner. This is the entry: use your vampiric climb to go up the outside, then Shadowstep through the window to the far side. The wall exists for people without claws.

Freeing Mert

Drop down inside, quietly remove the guards around the cell block, and break Mert out. The miller's part in this arc ends here — with the post's own keys jingling in his pocket on the way past.

Fighting out

The exit is the hard part, and the quest stages it as three clearances:

1. Up the stairs, the watch commander — a named fighter with real health. Spend your Shadowstep charges on approach angles and don't trade in the open.
2. Loot the room, then out the door into the second yard — another patrol group, then the gate.
3. The last stretch holds the post's warden and his guards. Everything you've learned about night combat applies: claws over swords, bites on cooldown, never let them surround you.

Clear the final yard, walk out the gate, and Under Watchful Eyes completes for 250 XP — with Mert safe, Sara's hideout expecting him, and the Stoneward Post quietly counting its dead. The Ambrus arc continues around the post's edges: Evil and Convenience is the next thread to pull.
