The Blood of Dawnwalker Romance Guide — How to Romance Lacra — Wiki & Guide

The Lacra romance walkthrough: A Friend Like This, Heart of the Hills, Hive and Seek, Withering Roots and Night of Terror — every dialogue pick, the mandrake scene, and the rewards.

Lacra is the vampire who hates what her kind have done to Vale Sangora. She serves the Vrakhiri, wants Brencis's plans buried, and will spend herself to do it — and if Coen plays his cards right, the dark side tastes better in her company. Her romance runs across five night-only quests.

The five quests in her chain

  1. A Friend Like This
  2. Heart of the Hills
  3. Hive and Seek
  4. Withering Roots
  5. Night of Terror — the finale

Lacra can't die by accident the way some bonds can, but several moments will sour her if you fumble them. And because she's a vampire, her quests only trigger and progress at night — plan your days around it.

First meeting — A Friend Like This

Work the informant's research in the Svartrau investigation line until he points you at an abandoned villa in the city's north. Follow the blood trail and the broken roof tiles to an unremarkable house, where you catch Lacra interrogating an Urisash prisoner — and your first meeting is a fistfight. Beat her.

The post-fight conversation is the foundation.

Lacra speaking with Coen at night during her romance chain
Lacra warms slowly, then all at once — the night conversations do the heavy lifting.

Pick:

  • "Pleasure's mine, but we really need to talk."
  • "I need to know how to reach your village."
  • "You have my word."
  • "I promise."
  • "You're not going to kill him."

She's prickly, not fragile. Hold your ground and she doesn't mind the interference.

Heart of the Hills

After A Friend Like This, meet her at night at the marked spot on Crown Rock. She wants Coen to feed on a shepherd — answer "A fine man?" with grace rather than cruelty, then climb into the hills where a group of Urisash starts throwing stones.

Defuse, don't fight:

  • "Alright, alright." then "Lacra, calm down."
  • "Can we stop being enemies?" then "We've proven our point."
  • Then pick "Do nothing" and wait the Urisash out until they stand down.

Her temper is the hazard; your calm is the answer. She respects it.

Hive and Seek

No romance-critical dialogue here — it's an underground dive with a lot of bandits to clear. When it ends, Coen and Lacra carry out the corpse of Isbrand, an old vampire in Brencis's service, and the chain turns toward its darkest chapter.

Withering Roots

The chain's surreal detour into Anahora, the hell-realm of vampire dreams. The branch that matters comes in the third stretch:

  • The right path leads to Svartrau and the castle.
  • The left path has a pit Lacra warns you away from.

Ignoring her warning and insisting left makes her walk away for a while — but pushing on triggers the memory cutscenes of her past, and eventually deposits you in the artificial Svartrau. When you speak to her again, choose:

  • "I'm sorry I came here." then "I have to know what you're hiding."

After defeating Isbrand you decide who keeps his essence. "I'll do it. I invite you in, Isbrand." keeps the moment — and the bond — with Lacra.

Night of Terror — the finale

One warning before anything else: Night of Terror triggers alongside the Brencis-ending quest (the one our endings guide walks through). Pushing that one forward locks you onto an irreversible route. For the Lacra ending, touch nothing else and see Night of Terror through.

The romance scene between Coen and Lacra in the cave by the ancient riverbank
The mandrake, the blood, the kiss — the romance scene that locks in the bond.

The quest sends Coen and Lacra into the marshes. Then you're suddenly standing beside hostile patrolling soldiers — and here's the trap: killing them advances time, and if morning comes, Night of Terror auto-fails. Run from the soldiers. Kill no one.

Between set pieces, the two of them trade their deepest griefs, angers and regrets — choose the reconciliatory, supportive replies every time. Then, at the cave with the ancient riverbank, Lacra offers you the mandrake plant on the ground. The sequence:

  1. Eat the mandrake.
  2. Focus on Lacra.
  3. "Who says I'm not?"
  4. She offers her blood — drink.
  5. Kiss her.

The scene plays, and the romance is locked in.

Rewards

Finishing Night of Terror grants:

  • The Mesmerize vampiric skill
  • The Mandrake Ward reward

Lacra and Anca — can you romance both?

They're not mutually exclusive: Lacra's quests all run at night, Anca's chain runs in the day (see the Anca romance quests: Page-Turner, Where Old Demons Sleep, Beyond Achilles). In theory you can court both — in practice the 30-day limit forces a reckoning. If you want both lines in one run, plan your day/night splits strictly and never spend a night idle.
