The Blood of Dawnwalker Dialogue Choices and Consequences

How dialogue choices work in The Blood of Dawnwalker: flavor lines, minor forks, and the major options that cost time, open quests, or decide who lives.
Most lines in The Blood of Dawnwalker are flavor. A second tier of choices changes immediate outcomes — prices, fights, loot. And a third tier — the major options — spends your real currencies: time segments, quest lines, and lives. This page is the field guide: how to tell the tiers apart, and the specific choices worth pausing the game for.

The three tiers
- Flavor lines loop back to the same prompt with no effect. Safe to explore.
- Minor options change the scene now: pay Anja 50, 25, or 0 dinars for her herbs (all three resolve the purchase — your wallet and conscience differ); threaten the Brencis officer during Live Bait and the conversation becomes a fight on the spot; in Evil and Convenience the dungeon warden can be duelled, paid for his treasure map, or fed upon after dark.
- Major options are marked and expensive — they open quests, skip content, or lock outcomes.
Major choices worth knowing
- Withering Away: agreeing to Anja's Latin lesson opens the Page-Turner side quest (2 time segments — declining still costs 1). The remedy itself has two hidden gates: use hot — not boiling — water, and add exactly two spoons of Hedgehog Herb. Either mistake costs Esme her life later.
- Like Father, Like Son: the parting words are a time fork — "See you then" spends 1 segment and keeps your free window before the next main quest; "I'll wait" burns 5 segments and skips straight to it.
- Feeding prompts: every drink of human blood raises Corruption (and stirs Infamy) — the long road to the vampire-leaning endings.
Reading the prompt
Time costs appear on the option; bracketed [actions] are committed choices, not conversation. When a major option appears without a clock, the price is paid later — treat those as save-checkpoint moments.
