Lost Blood walkthrough: the wrecked blood wagon near St. Tynor's Grove, tracking the trail to the ghoul cave, the Ambrus's Blood potion, and the merchant reunion in Svartrau.
Lost Blood is a self-starting side quest with no giver and no fail state: Coen stumbles on a wrecked blood-transport wagon in the woods near St. Tynor's Grove, and curiosity does the rest. It pays 200 XP, a skill manual, and — if you know what to do with it — one of the best vampiric abilities in the game.

How to start
Walk up to the destroyed wagon just north of the Pilgrims' Path shrine and enter Focus mode. Inspecting the wreck starts the quest. There are no prerequisites, no failure conditions, and no way to lock yourself out.
Track the blood trail
- With Focus mode active, follow the highlighted blood trail west toward the road.
- The trail ends at a cave south of the road. Inspect its entrance in Focus mode to press on.
Kill the ghoul and loot the cave
Inside waits a hulking ghoul — a straightforward fight at range with your swordplay or vampiric abilities. Two pickups matter:
- Search the corpse. You get a mysterious ring and a flask labeled Ambrus's Blood. Drink the flask to unlock the vampiric ability Crimson Shield — do not sell or drop it, it is the only way to learn the ability.
- Grab A Father's Letter from the cave floor. It points you to the quest's final step.
Find the letter's sender in Svartrau
The letter leads to a merchant whose shop sits right at the Liberators' hideout entrance in Svartrau's southeast. Talk to him during the day and pick:
- "The emblem behind you looks familiar."
- "I found a ring bearing your family crest."
Wait it out — then collect
After you tell him the whole story, the merchant closes shop to process it. You must burn roughly a full in-game day (16 time segments) before he reopens. Return the next day, talk to him again, and Lost Blood concludes with its 200 XP and a skill manual that raises Medicine to rank II.
